A voice note reminder app lets you say what you need to remember instead of typing it. Mindie does this inside WhatsApp: hold the microphone button in your chat with Mindie, say "remind me tomorrow at 9 to book the car service", and let go. Mindie writes out what you said and sets the reminder, the same as if you had typed the sentence.

That makes it handy when your hands are busy. Walking to the station, cooking, holding a child, or the moment you think of something in the car (once you've stopped).

## How voice note reminders work

1. **Sign up** on [getmindie.app](/signup). The trial runs 7 days and includes every feature.
2. **Link WhatsApp.** You'll see a six-digit code on the site. Send Mindie "verify" plus that code from your phone.
3. **Hold the mic and talk.** Say the task and when. "Pay the electricity bill on Friday at 6pm" is enough.
4. **Read Mindie's reply.** It confirms what it set, with the date and time, so you can catch anything it misheard.
5. **Get the reminder.** At the time you gave, Mindie messages you. Reply by text or by another voice note to move it.

Mindie transcribes each note with its language detected, so a note in Spanish or German comes out in that language and isn't forced into English. A note saying "recuérdame mañana a las 8 ir al gimnasio" sets a reminder for 8 tomorrow morning.

## One voice note, several kinds of result

A voice note is treated exactly like a typed message, so it can become any of the things Mindie handles.

| You send (as a voice note) | Mindie does |
|---|---|
| remind me tomorrow at 9 to book the car service | Sets a reminder for 9:00 am tomorrow |
| every morning at 7 remind me to take my tablet | Sets a [daily recurring reminder](/features/recurring-reminders) |
| add rice, onions and coffee to my grocery list | Saves the items to your list |
| note: the plumber said the valve is under the sink | Saves a note you can ask for later |
| dentist on the 14th at 11:30, put it in my calendar | Adds an event to your connected calendar |
| call the landlord about the deposit | Asks what time, since you didn't give one |

In the example at the top of this page, a single nine-second note produced both a reminder for the car service and a separate note about the brake noise. If a note holds more than one thing, check Mindie's reply to see how it filed each part.

## Tips for voice notes that work first time

- **Keep it short.** One or two tasks per note is easier to get right than a long ramble.
- **Say the time.** If there's no time in the note, Mindie asks for one instead of guessing.
- **Use the words you'd type.** "In 20 minutes", "tonight", "next Thursday" and "on the 5th" all work out loud too.
- **Name lists and notes plainly.** "Add to my packing list" or "save this note" makes the intent clear.

If a note is too noisy or unclear, Mindie says so and asks you to record it again or type it.

## Voice memos versus voice reminders

Your phone's voice memo app records audio, but a recording doesn't come back to you at the right moment, and finding one later means listening through files. Mindie keeps the text of what you said as a chat message, not the audio, so it can turn the words into a reminder that arrives on time, a [list](/features/whatsapp-lists) you can pull up in the shop, or a [note](/features/whatsapp-notes) you can search later by asking in your own words.

## Who sends voice notes to Mindie

- **Drivers and commuters** who think of tasks on the move.
- **Parents and carers** with their hands full most of the day.
- **People who find typing slow**, or prefer to speak in Spanish, French or another language they're more at home in.
- **Busy professionals** capturing a follow-up straight after a call.

## What Mindie doesn't do

- **It doesn't store your audio.** Only the written text stays, as a chat message.
- **It doesn't read every file type.** Text, voice notes and images are read. PDFs, documents, videos, stickers, locations and contacts are not.
- **It doesn't answer general questions.** Ask for an essay, the news, the weather or a long explanation and it will decline. It sticks to your reminders, notes, lists and calendar.
- **It doesn't remind other people** or post in groups.

## Privacy

Mindie only receives what you send to it. It can't see your other chats or your contacts. Nothing you send is sold or used to train AI models, and the message "clear our chat" removes your chat history. See the [privacy policy](/privacy).

## Price

Try everything free for 7 days. After the trial it's $9 a month, or $90 a year with two months free. If the first payment wasn't worth it, there's a 7-day money-back guarantee, and you can cancel at any point by texting "cancel". More on the [pricing page](/pricing).

## FAQ

### Can I set a reminder with a WhatsApp voice note?
Yes. Record a voice note to Mindie the way you'd talk to a friend, such as "remind me tomorrow at 9 to book the car service". Mindie writes it out and sets the reminder.

### Which languages work in voice notes?
English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. Mindie detects the language of the note, and it replies in the language you spoke.

### Does Mindie keep my audio?
No. It keeps the written text of the voice note as a chat message, not the recording.

### How long can a voice note be?
Short notes work best. Say the task, the day and the time, and keep it to one or two things.

### What if Mindie can't understand my voice note?
It tells you and asks you to send it again or type it. It won't save a guess.

### Can a voice note become a shopping list?
Yes. Say two or more items to buy, like "add milk, eggs and bread to my grocery list", and Mindie saves them as a list, one item per line.

### Do I need a separate voice reminder app?
No. Mindie is a WhatsApp contact, so you use the microphone button you already use. There's nothing to install on iPhone or Android.
