Due alternative: nagging reminders in WhatsApp

Updated . Prices and features checked against each product's own website.

If you're looking for a Due alternative, maybe because you've moved to Android or want reminders on a work Windows PC, Mindie keeps the part many people love about Due: reminders that don't go quiet until you deal with them. It does that inside WhatsApp.

Due is a polished app built around one idea, and on Apple devices it does that idea very well.

Mindie

on WhatsApp

  • One reminder

Remind me at 2pm to take my tablet
  • Keeps nudging

Nag me at 8pm to lock the shed

Every 3 hours remind me to stand up

The short answer

  • Stay with Due if you're all-in on Apple, want one-tap due times and countdown timers, and like a native app with a home on your Watch.
  • Try Mindie if you need the same "keep at me until it's done" reminders on any phone, or want to set them by voice note or screenshot.

Where Due is better

Due is a native Apple app. Its row of preset times lets you set a reminder with one tap, and you can snooze straight from the notification. It has countdown timers precise to the second that can run side by side, several themes, and sync through iCloud or Dropbox. If you live on Apple devices and want a fast, focused reminder app, Due is hard to beat. The iOS and Mac versions are sold separately.

Where Mindie fits

Mindie is a contact in your WhatsApp. You text it the way you would text a friend ("pay rent on the 5th at 10am"), or send a voice note or a screenshot, and it replies with the time it understood. If you leave out a time, it asks. When the moment comes it messages you in the same chat, and you reply done, snooze or undo.

Turn on nag mode for anything you tend to dodge, and Mindie keeps messaging until you reply done. Because it's WhatsApp, the nudges reach you on Android, iPhone or a laptop. Beyond reminders, Mindie keeps notes and lists, tracks habits with streaks, adds events to Google Calendar or Outlook, and can send a morning briefing if you want one.

Using both

If you're on an iPhone, you can keep Due for quick timers and personal nudges, and use Mindie for reminders you set by voice note, forward from a screenshot, or need on a non-Apple device. They don't sync, so pick one home for each reminder.

Price

Due's own site doesn't list prices; it notes the iOS and Mac apps are sold separately and the Mac app is also on Setapp.

Mindie has one plan: $9 a month or $90 a year. You can try it on WhatsApp first with no sign-up, then start a 7-day free trial with every feature. A card is saved at checkout and nothing is charged during the trial. A $99 lifetime plan is open to the first 50 buyers outside the UK and EU. The first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee, and texting "cancel" ends the plan. See pricing or start your trial.

Questions

Does Mindie keep reminding me like Due's auto snooze?

Yes, if you turn on nag mode for a reminder. Mindie keeps nudging in WhatsApp until you reply done.

Does Mindie work on Android?

Yes. Mindie lives in WhatsApp, so it works on any phone or computer that runs WhatsApp.

Does Mindie have timers like Due?

No. Mindie sets reminders for a time or a repeat, but it has no countdown timers.

How often does nag mode repeat?

Every 30 minutes, up to 3 times, until you reply done. Say "nag me" in a reminder, or set it as your default in settings.

Can I change a reminder after it arrives?

Yes. Reply to it, for example "push it to 7" or "snooze 1 hour", and Mindie moves it. If you close or delete one by mistake, say "undo" within 24 hours.
