Is there a calendar in WhatsApp?
Updated .
WhatsApp doesn't have a personal calendar. You can't open a calendar view of your week inside the app, and a message that says "dentist Thursday at 4" stays a message. What you can do is connect the calendar you already use, Google Calendar or Outlook, to a WhatsApp assistant. With Mindie, you text "add dentist on Thursday at 4pm to my calendar" and the event appears in your calendar, then you ask "what's on Thursday?" and get your day back in the chat.
What WhatsApp can do on its own
In recent versions, WhatsApp lets you create an Event inside a group or community chat. You give it a name, a date and time, and optionally a description, a place or a call link. Members can answer going, maybe or can't go, and everyone sees who's coming.
That's useful for a dinner or a team call with the people in that group. It isn't a calendar:
- It lives in one chat. A group's event doesn't sit next to your other plans, and there's no view of your whole week.
- It's for groups. It doesn't cover your own appointments, like the dentist or a flight.
- It doesn't read your messages. "Let's meet Friday at 10" in a chat doesn't become an event unless someone creates one by hand.
Whether a group event can be copied into your phone's calendar depends on your WhatsApp version and phone, so check the event's options on your own device.
How to add a calendar to WhatsApp with Mindie
- Start your free trial on getmindie.app.
- Link your WhatsApp number. The site shows a six-digit code. Send "verify" and the code to Mindie on WhatsApp.
- Connect your calendar. In the dashboard, connect Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar or both, using Google's or Microsoft's own sign-in.
- Text the event. "Add a call with Emma on Friday at 3pm", "team sync every Tuesday at 10", or a screenshot of an invite with "add this to my calendar".
- Ask for your schedule. "What's on tomorrow?" or "what do I have this week?" comes back as a list in the chat.
What you can send
| You send | Mindie does |
|---|---|
| add lunch with Sam on Thursday at 1 to my calendar | Adds the event to Google Calendar |
| client review on Wednesday 4pm to outlook | Adds it to Outlook instead |
| put the team sync every Tuesday at 10 on my calendar | Adds a repeating event |
| what's on tomorrow? | Lists tomorrow's events and reminders |
| a screenshot of a wedding invite: add this to my calendar | Reads the date, time and place, then adds it |
| delete the 4pm call tomorrow | Names the event and deletes it after you say yes |
| remind me before the dentist on Thursday | Sets a reminder 15 minutes early, marked as prep |
Events are created in your own timezone, so "Friday at 3" means 3 pm where you are.
Sending a calendar invite through WhatsApp
People often search for a way to send a Google Calendar invite over WhatsApp. WhatsApp itself can't send a calendar invite, and Mindie doesn't invite other people either: it only adds events to your own calendar. You have two simple options:
- Add them as a guest in Google Calendar or Outlook. Their invite arrives by email, with a button to accept, and the event lands in their calendar.
- Send the details as a message. Date, time and place in a WhatsApp message works for most plans. If they use Mindie too, they can forward that message to Mindie and it goes into their own calendar.
A calendar or a reminder?
A calendar event is a block of time that you and other apps can see. A reminder is a nudge: Mindie messages you at a set time. Plenty of plans need both, which is why Mindie does both. Ask for a reminder about a meeting and it's set 15 minutes early, so you have time to get ready.
What Mindie doesn't do
- It doesn't edit existing events. It adds, lists and deletes. To change a time, delete the event and add it again, or edit it in your calendar app.
- It doesn't send invites or message other people. Everything happens in your own chat with Mindie.
- It doesn't add events to WhatsApp groups. Group Events are created in WhatsApp itself.
Your calendar stays yours
Calendars connect with Google's or Microsoft's own sign-in, and you can disconnect them from the dashboard at any time. Mindie only sees the messages you send to it, never your other chats, and your messages are never sold or used to train AI models. More in the privacy policy.
What it costs
Every feature, calendars included, is free for 7 days. After that Mindie is $9 a month or $90 a year, with a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first payment. See pricing.
Questions
Does WhatsApp have a calendar?
Not a personal one. WhatsApp can hold an Event inside a group or community chat, but there is no calendar view of your week. To keep a calendar from WhatsApp, connect Google Calendar or Outlook through an assistant like Mindie.
How do I connect Google Calendar to WhatsApp?
Sign up for Mindie, link your WhatsApp number, and connect Google Calendar from the dashboard with Google's own sign-in. After that, a message like "add lunch with Sam on Thursday at 1" goes straight into your calendar.
Can I send a Google Calendar invite through WhatsApp?
WhatsApp can't send a calendar invite itself. Either add the person as a guest in Google Calendar so Google emails them the invite, or send the details as a normal WhatsApp message. Mindie adds events to your own calendar and doesn't invite other people.
Can I see my calendar inside WhatsApp?
With Mindie, yes. Ask "what's on tomorrow?" or "what do I have this week?" and it replies with your events from Google Calendar or Outlook.
Does it work with Outlook too?
Yes. Outlook Calendar connects the same way with Microsoft's sign-in, and you can connect both. New events go to Google Calendar unless you say "to outlook".
Can I turn a screenshot of an invite into a calendar event?
Yes. Send Mindie the screenshot and say "add this to my calendar". It reads the date, time and place off the image.
Is it free?
Mindie is free for 7 days with every feature, then $9 a month or $90 a year. You can cancel any time by texting "cancel".
Mindie isn't affiliated with the other products named here. Their details come from their own websites and app listings and can change. Checked on 3 November 2026. Sources: WhatsApp's own help pages and announcements about group Events; Mindie's own product.
