Reminders you set in WhatsApp

Updated .

To set a reminder in WhatsApp, text it to a reminder assistant that lives in WhatsApp. With Mindie you send one message, such as "remind me to call the bank tomorrow at 11", and at 11 the next morning Mindie messages you in the same chat. No app to open, no form to fill in, no date picker.

WhatsApp's own tools are built for keeping messages, not for nudging you later. Starring a message or pinning a chat keeps something visible, but neither one turns "call the bank tomorrow at 11" into a message that arrives at 11. That gap is what Mindie fills.

How to set a reminder in WhatsApp with Mindie

  1. Start your trial on getmindie.app. The 7-day free trial includes every feature.
  2. Link your WhatsApp number. The site shows a six-digit code. Send "verify" and the code to Mindie on WhatsApp and your number is connected.
  3. Text the reminder in your own words. "Remind me to send the invoice on Friday at 4", "in 20 minutes take the cake out", or a voice note saying the same.
  4. Check the reply. Mindie answers with the date and time it understood, so a wrong guess is easy to spot.
  5. Get the message on time. When it's due, Mindie messages you. Reply to push it later or cancel it.

That's the whole setup. After the first message, setting a reminder takes as long as typing the sentence.

What you can send, and what Mindie does with it

You sendMindie does
remind me to call mom tomorrow at 6pmSets a reminder for tomorrow, 6:00 pm
in 30 minutes drink waterSets it for exactly 30 minutes from now
pay rent on the 5th at 10amPicks the next 5th that's coming
recuérdame mañana a las 8 ir al gimnasioUnderstands Spanish: tomorrow at 8:00 am, gym
every monday at 9 send the weekly reportSets a recurring reminder
remind me to buy milkAsks you what time, because you didn't say
what's on tomorrow?Lists tomorrow's reminders, and calendar events if you've connected one

Mindie works out relative times ("in an hour", "tonight", "next Thursday") in your own timezone, so a reminder for 9 am is 9 am where you are.

Moving, snoozing and cancelling by reply

You never have to open a list to change a reminder. Reply in the chat:

  • "push it to 3pm" or "move it to Friday" changes the time.
  • "what reminders do I have this week?" shows what's coming, with dates.
  • "delete the gym reminder" removes it. Mindie names the reminder and asks you to confirm before deleting anything, so a stray "ok" can't wipe out the wrong one.

Reminders or calendar events?

A reminder is a nudge: Mindie messages you at a time. A calendar event is a block of time that other apps and people can see. Mindie does both. Say "add a meeting with Emma on Friday at 3pm to my calendar" and it goes into Google Calendar or Outlook. When you ask for a reminder about a meeting, Mindie sets it 15 minutes early so you have time to prepare.

Who uses WhatsApp reminders

  • Founders and freelancers remembering follow-ups promised on calls, like "send Dana the proposal on Thursday morning".
  • Parents keeping track of school forms, fees and pickups.
  • Anyone with medicine, bills or renewals, where a missed day costs money or health.
  • People who already message themselves notes to remember. Mindie turns those notes to self into reminders that come back.

The common thread is that WhatsApp is the app they check most, so a reminder there is the one they'll see.

What Mindie doesn't do

  • It doesn't remind other people or post in groups. Reminders go to you, in your chat with Mindie.
  • It isn't an alarm. A reminder is a message, so it follows your WhatsApp notification settings.
  • It doesn't answer general questions. Ask it to write an essay or look something up and it will say that's not what it does. It sticks to your reminders, notes, lists and calendar.

Your messages stay yours

Mindie only sees the messages you send to it, never your other chats or contacts. Your messages are never sold or used to train AI models, and you can text "clear our chat" to delete your history. Details are in the privacy policy.

What it costs

Every feature is free for 7 days. After that, Mindie is $9 a month or $90 a year (two months free), and there's a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first payment. You can cancel any time by texting "cancel". See pricing.

Questions

Is there a free WhatsApp reminder app?

Mindie has a 7-day free trial with every feature. After that it costs $9 a month or $90 a year, and you can cancel any time by texting "cancel". Free tools exist, but most can't read plain sentences, voice notes or screenshots, and few connect to your calendar.

Can I set a reminder in a WhatsApp group?

Not with Mindie. Reminders come to your own chat with Mindie, not to a group, and Mindie doesn't message other people. If a group plan needs a nudge, set the reminder for yourself and post it in the group when it arrives.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Mindie is a WhatsApp contact, so it works wherever your WhatsApp works: iPhone, Android, WhatsApp Web and the desktop app.

Do I need to install anything?

No app to install. Message Mindie on WhatsApp to try it without signing up, then start your free trial on getmindie.app to keep going. After that you text Mindie like any other contact.

What happens if I miss the reminder?

It stays in your chat like any message, so you can scroll back to it. Reply "push it to 6" or "tomorrow" and Mindie sets it again.

Which languages can I use?

English, shorthand and typos are fine, and so are Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. Mindie answers in the language you wrote in.

Will I hear the reminder if my phone is on silent?

A reminder is a WhatsApp message, so it follows your WhatsApp notification settings. If the Mindie chat is muted, or your phone is on silent, you'll see it but won't hear it.

Mindie works inside WhatsApp and connects to the services named on this page, but isn't affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp, Meta, Google, Microsoft or Notion. Checked on 3 November 2026.
