Reminders that repeat, set in one message

Updated .

A recurring reminder on WhatsApp is one you set once and get again on a schedule. With Mindie you type the rhythm in plain words, for example "every Monday at 9am remind me to send the weekly report", and Mindie messages you every Monday at 9. Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly all work, and you can give the series an end.

Your phone's reminders app can repeat things too, but it lives in a separate app with its own screens. If WhatsApp is the app you check all day, a repeating nudge that lands there is harder to ignore.

How to set a repeating reminder in WhatsApp

  1. Create your account on getmindie.app. The first 7 days are free, with every feature on.
  2. Connect your number. The site shows a six-digit code. Message Mindie on WhatsApp with "verify" followed by that code.
  3. Say what repeats and when. "Every day at 9pm take my tablet", "on the 1st of every month at 10 pay rent", "every year on 3 March remind me it's Dad's birthday".
  4. Read the confirmation. Mindie replies with the pattern and time it understood, like "Every Monday at 9:00 am". If it heard the wrong day, reply and correct it.
  5. Let it run. Each time the reminder is due, Mindie sends it to you in the same chat.

If you leave out the time, Mindie asks for one. It doesn't pick an hour for you.

Daily reminders: medicine, habits and routines

Daily reminders are the most common kind. People use them for pills, eye drops, a glass of water after lunch, a short walk, or logging expenses before bed. If a course of medicine lasts a set number of days, say so in the same message: "every morning at 8 for the next 14 days take the antibiotic". Mindie counts down and stops, so you aren't nagged after the course ends.

A reminder is a WhatsApp message, not an alarm. It follows your notification settings, so keep the Mindie chat unmuted for anything you must not miss.

Weekly and monthly reminders for bills and work

Weekly works well for anything tied to a day of the week: a Friday timesheet, Sunday meal prep, bins on Tuesday night. Monthly suits rent, card payments, subscriptions and reports that come due on a date.

Dates near the end of the month are handled for you. A monthly reminder on the 31st lands on the 30th in April and on the last day of February, then returns to the 31st in months that have one.

Birthday and anniversary reminders on WhatsApp

Yearly reminders cover birthdays, anniversaries, insurance renewals and licence expiry dates. Set each one once, with a time you'll actually see it, and it comes back every year. Since WhatsApp is often where you'd send the wishes anyway, the reminder arrives in the right place.

Mindie won't send the birthday message for you. It doesn't message other people, so the wishes still come from you.

Changing or ending a recurring reminder

Reply in plain words. "Move the report reminder to 10am" changes the time. "What's on tomorrow?" shows what's due. To end a series early, ask Mindie to delete it by name. Mindie names the reminder it found and waits for a plain yes before removing it.

If the thing that repeats is a meeting or a class others should see, put it on your calendar instead. Mindie can add repeating events to Google Calendar with the same kind of sentence. For one-time nudges, see WhatsApp reminders, and the weekly recap shows which reminders are still open each Sunday.

Who uses repeating reminders

  • People on regular medicine or caring for a parent who is.
  • Freelancers and small business owners with weekly reports, monthly invoices and tax dates.
  • Households splitting rent, bills and chores across the month.
  • Anyone who forgets birthdays and is tired of finding out the next day.

What Mindie doesn't do

  • It doesn't remind your family or a group. Every reminder comes to your own chat.
  • It isn't a phone alarm. It can't ring through silent mode.
  • It doesn't guess times. No time in your message means Mindie asks.
  • It won't chat about other things. Essays, news and long explanations are outside what it does.

Privacy

Mindie sees only what you send it, never your other chats or your contacts. Your messages aren't sold or used to train AI models, and texting "clear our chat" erases your history with it. Read the privacy policy for the details.

Cost

You get a 7-day free trial with everything included. Then it's $9 a month or $90 a year, which works out to two months free. The first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee, and texting "cancel" ends the plan whenever you like. Full details are on the pricing page.

Questions

Can I set a daily reminder on WhatsApp?

Yes. Text Mindie something like "every day at 8am take my vitamin" and it messages you at 8 each morning. You can also give it an end, such as "for the next 10 days".

How do I set a birthday reminder on WhatsApp?

Send "remind me every year on 12 June that it's Anna's birthday" and add a time. Mindie repeats it yearly, so you only set it once.

What happens to a monthly reminder on the 31st?

In months with fewer days it arrives on the last day of the month, then goes back to the 31st when the month has one. You don't have to fix February by hand.

Can a repeating reminder stop on its own?

Yes. Give it a count ("for 6 weeks", "for the next 10 days") or an end date ("until the end of March") and it stops after that.

How do I stop a recurring reminder?

Ask Mindie to delete it by name. It tells you which reminder it found and only deletes it if your next message is a plain yes.

Will it remind other people too?

No. Reminders come to your own chat with Mindie. It doesn't message other people or post in WhatsApp groups.

Does a medicine reminder ring like an alarm?

No. It arrives as a WhatsApp message and follows your WhatsApp notification settings. Keep the Mindie chat unmuted if you need to hear it.
