Your Google Calendar, by text

Updated .

A Google Calendar WhatsApp integration lets you add events and check your schedule from a chat instead of the calendar app. With Mindie, you connect Google Calendar once, then text "add a meeting with Emma on Friday at 3pm" and the event appears in your calendar. Ask "what's on tomorrow?" and the day comes back as a short list in the same chat.

Most of us already plan our days in WhatsApp. A friend suggests dinner on Saturday, a client confirms a call, the school sends a date for the parent meeting. Copying each of those into a calendar means switching apps, tapping through a form and picking times from a wheel. Mindie lets you type the event the way you'd say it out loud.

Wondering what WhatsApp can do on its own? Is there a calendar in WhatsApp? covers its group Events and how invites work, and this walkthrough shows a busy week of meetings set up from chat.

How to add Google Calendar to WhatsApp

  1. Create your account at getmindie.app. The trial lasts 7 days and includes the calendar features.
  2. Link your WhatsApp number. A six-digit code appears on the site. Send Mindie "verify" followed by that code in WhatsApp.
  3. Connect Google Calendar from the dashboard. Open the integrations page and sign in through Google's own sign-in screen. Mindie never asks for your Google password in the chat.
  4. Text your first event. For example "lunch with Sam on Thursday 1pm to 2pm at the corner cafe".
  5. Read the confirmation. Mindie replies with the title, day and time it saved, so you can catch a mistake straight away.

From then on, any message that describes an event can go into your calendar.

What you can text, and what ends up in your calendar

You sendMindie does
add a meeting with Emma on Friday at 3pmCreates "Meeting with Emma" on Friday, 3:00 pm
dentist next Tuesday 10am to 11am at Smile ClinicAdds the event with an end time and a location
yoga class every Wednesday at 7am until the end of MarchCreates a weekly repeating event with an end date
what's on tomorrow?Lists tomorrow's events and reminders
what do I have this week?Shows the week ahead, day by day
delete the dentist appointmentNames the event and waits for your yes before removing it

An event can carry a title, a date, a start time, an optional end time, a description and a location. Repeats can be daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, limited by a count ("for 6 weeks") or an end date.

Ways to get events into the calendar

Typing is only one route. A WhatsApp voice note works too: Mindie transcribes it and handles it like a typed message, so "put the plumber in my calendar for Saturday at 9" said while you're carrying groceries becomes an event. You can also send a screenshot of a booking, a ticket or an appointment card and write "add this to my calendar". Mindie reads the text in the image and builds the event from it. The screenshot to reminder page covers that in more detail.

Mindie understands English with shorthand and typos, plus Spanish, French, German and Portuguese, and answers in the language you used.

Calendar events and WhatsApp reminders

People searching for a "Google Calendar WhatsApp reminder" usually want one of two things: the event saved in their calendar, or a nudge in WhatsApp before it starts. Mindie does both, as separate requests. The calendar event is the block of time. A WhatsApp reminder is a message Mindie sends you at a set time. If you ask for a reminder about a meeting, Mindie sets it 15 minutes before the start and marks it as prep time, so you aren't walking in cold.

When you ask "what's on tomorrow?", you get both together: your calendar events and the reminders Mindie is holding for you.

Who uses it

  • Freelancers and consultants who agree call times in WhatsApp and want them in the calendar before they forget.
  • Parents juggling school events, classes and appointments that arrive as WhatsApp messages from teachers and other parents.
  • Small business owners who book customers over chat and keep their day in Google Calendar.
  • Anyone who rarely opens the calendar app but checks WhatsApp all day.

Using Outlook as well

If your work calendar lives in Outlook, connect it too. With both linked, new events go to Google Calendar by default, and adding "to outlook" sends one to Microsoft's calendar instead. The Outlook Calendar page explains how people split personal and work events this way.

What Mindie doesn't do

  • It doesn't read your other chats. Mindie can't scan a group conversation and pull dates out of it. You tell it the event in your own chat with Mindie.
  • It doesn't message other people. Mindie works in your one-to-one chat. It won't post in groups or text the people you're meeting.
  • It doesn't answer general questions. It won't write emails or essays, or look things up on the web. It stays with your calendar, reminders, notes and lists.
  • It only reads text, voice notes and images. PDFs, documents, videos and shared locations aren't read, so an invite sent as a PDF needs a screenshot or a typed line instead.

Privacy and your Google account

The calendar connection is made through Google's own sign-in, and you can disconnect it from the dashboard at any time. Mindie only sees what you send it, never your other WhatsApp chats or contacts. Messages are never sold or used to train AI models, and texting "clear our chat" deletes your chat history. Read the full privacy policy.

Price

The first 7 days are free with every feature, the calendar included. Then it's $9 a month or $90 a year, which works out to two months free. Your first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee, and you can text "cancel" whenever you want to stop. Details on the pricing page.

Questions

Can I add events to Google Calendar from WhatsApp?

Yes. Connect Google Calendar to Mindie once from the dashboard, then text something like "add dentist on Tuesday at 10am" and Mindie creates the event in your calendar.

Does Mindie sync my WhatsApp chats into Google Calendar?

No. Mindie only sees the messages you send to it. It adds the events you ask for and reads your calendar when you ask what's coming up, but it never looks at your other chats.

How do I connect Google Calendar?

Open the integrations page in the Mindie dashboard and sign in with Google's own sign-in screen. You can disconnect it from the same page whenever you like.

Can I use Google Calendar and Outlook at the same time?

Yes, both can be connected. New events go to Google Calendar unless you say Outlook in the message, for example "to outlook".

Can it create repeating events?

Yes. Events can repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, and you can stop them after a number of times or on an end date.

Can I delete a calendar event from WhatsApp?

Yes, ask Mindie to delete it. It names the event first, and only deletes it if your next message is a plain yes.

Which timezone are events created in?

Your own. A meeting you text for 3pm lands at 3pm where you are.

Mindie works inside WhatsApp and connects to the services named on this page, but isn't affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp, Meta, Google, Microsoft or Notion. Checked on 3 November 2026.
