Google Assistant reminders alternative: reminders in WhatsApp

Updated October 2026. Prices and features checked against each product's own website.

If you're looking for a Google Assistant reminders alternative, you're not alone. Google moved Assistant reminders into Google Tasks and has been replacing Assistant with Gemini on phones, so the way reminders work has changed more than once. Mindie keeps reminders in a WhatsApp chat instead, which doesn't change when your phone's assistant does.

Mindie

on WhatsApp

• Tomorrow

Remind me tomorrow at 7am to put the bins out

• Recurring

Every Sunday at 6pm remind me to plan the week

• Calendar

Dentist on 12 April at 3pm, add it to my calendar

The short answer

• Stay with Google's tools if hands-free "Hey Google" reminders are what you need, and Google Tasks works for you.
• Try Mindie if you want reminders in one stable place, set by text, voice note or screenshot, and delivered as messages you'll see.

At a glance

Where Google's assistant is better

It's free, hands-free and built into Android. Reminders land in Google Tasks and show up next to your Google Calendar.

Where Mindie fits

Mindie is a contact in your WhatsApp. You text it the way you'd text a friend ("pay rent on the 5th at 10am"), or send a voice note or a screenshot, and it replies with the time it understood. If you leave out a time, it asks. At the right moment it messages you in the same chat, and you reply to move or cancel the reminder.

Your reminders don't depend on which assistant your phone ships with this year. They're messages in a chat, and you can scroll back to see what you set. Connect Google Calendar and events you mention go there too.

Price

Mindie is free for 7 days with every feature. A card is saved at checkout, nothing is charged during the trial, and Mindie texts you two days before it ends. After that it's $9 a month or $90 a year, with a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first payment. Cancel any time by texting "cancel". See pricing or start your trial.
