Remember The Milk alternative: reminders in WhatsApp

Updated . Prices and features checked against each product's own website.

If you're looking for a Remember The Milk alternative because your lists are fine but the reminders slip past you, a reminder assistant inside WhatsApp may suit you better. Mindie keeps reminders, notes and short lists in a WhatsApp chat, so they arrive where you already look.

Remember The Milk has been around a long time and does a lot well. For many people it's still the right tool.

Where Remember The Milk is better

Remember The Milk runs on the web, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android, so your lists are on every screen. You can share lists and hand tasks to other people, which Mindie can't do. Pro adds subtasks, advanced sorting and grouping, attachments, Outlook sync, IFTTT and Zapier, and its own scripting. It also offers a way to connect AI assistants to your lists. If you organise a lot of tasks or share them, it does more than Mindie.

Where Mindie fits

Mindie is a contact in your WhatsApp. You text it the way you would text a friend ("pay rent on the 5th at 10am"), or send a voice note or a screenshot, and it replies with the time it understood. If you leave out a time, it asks. When the moment comes it messages you in the same chat, and you reply done, snooze or undo.

There's no list to tend. Ask "what's on this week?" and Mindie tells you. Repeats cover daily, weekdays, weekly, monthly, yearly and every N hours, days, weeks or months, and you can end them after a number of times or on a date. For things you keep putting off, nag mode keeps nudging until you reply done.

Using both

Plenty of people keep their lists in one app and their must-not-miss reminders somewhere louder. Plan in Remember The Milk, and send Mindie the bills, appointments and follow-ups. The two don't sync, so give each kind of task one home.

Price

Remember The Milk has a free plan, and its upgrade page lists Pro at $49.99 a year.

Mindie has one plan: $9 a month or $90 a year. You can try it on WhatsApp first with no sign-up, then start a 7-day free trial with every feature. A card is saved at checkout and nothing is charged during the trial. A $99 lifetime plan is open to the first 50 buyers outside the UK and EU. The first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee, and texting "cancel" ends the plan. See pricing or start your trial.
