Car service reminder on WhatsApp
Updated .
A car service reminder on WhatsApp is a message when your car is due for servicing, and for the paperwork that expires along the way: pollution certificates, insurance, registration. With Mindie, send "every 6 months on the 15th at 10am remind me to book the car service" and it repeats every six months.
Cars give little warning. A missed service shows up months later as a bigger repair, and an expired pollution certificate or insurance shows up at a roadside check.

What to set
- Servicing, at the interval your manufacturer recommends. For every six months, say "every 6 months".
- Pollution or emissions certificate, a week before it expires.
- Insurance renewal, two to three weeks before. See insurance premium reminders.
- Monthly checks, like tyre pressure, if you want them.
Why maintenance slips
- Intervals are long. Six or twelve months between services is easy to lose track of.
- Papers expire on different dates. Insurance, certificates and registration each have their own.
- The service book stays in the glovebox. The record of the last visit is never at hand.
Habits that keep the car road-ready
- Note each service. "Note: car serviced 15 April, 42,300 km, oil and brake pads" builds a history you can ask for.
- Photograph the papers. Send a photo of the certificate and Mindie sets the reminder from its expiry date, after checking with you.
- Book a week ahead. The reminder should be to book, not to go.
How Mindie handles it
Send each reminder once, in words, as a voice note or as a photo of a document. Mindie confirms each date and messages you when it's due.
What Mindie doesn't do
- It doesn't read your odometer or connect to your car.
- It doesn't book services or renew documents.
Questions
My car is serviced every 6 months. Can Mindie repeat that?
Yes. Send "every 6 months on the 15th at 10am remind me to book the car service".
What if servicing is due by kilometres, not by date?
Mindie can't read your odometer. Note the service kilometres when you go, and set a reminder for the date you'd usually reach the next interval.
Can I keep the service history?
Yes. Send a note after each service with the date, kilometres and work done, and ask for it when you need it.
What should I note after each service?
The date, mileage and what was done. Send it as a note, and you can ask for it at the next service or when you sell the car.
Can I remind myself to book before the service is due?
Yes. Set the reminder for two weeks before the due date, so you have time to get a slot.
This page explains how to set the reminder with Mindie. It isn't financial, legal or medical advice; check dates and doses with the people who set them. Checked on 31 October 2026.
