Google Calendar alternative: reminders in WhatsApp
Updated . Prices and features checked against each product's own website.
If you're looking for an alternative to Google Calendar reminders because the notifications slide past you, you can keep Google Calendar and get reminders in WhatsApp instead. Mindie connects to your calendar, adds events from a chat message, and sends reminders where you'll see them.
Google Calendar is free and excellent as a calendar. The weak point for many people is the notification.

The short answer
- Keep Google Calendar for your schedule, shared calendars and meeting invites.
- Add Mindie to put events in from WhatsApp in a sentence, voice note or screenshot, and to get the reminders that matter as WhatsApp messages.

Where Google Calendar is better
As a calendar, nearly everywhere: day, week and month views, shared calendars, invites, meeting links and full editing. Mindie isn't a calendar app, and its dashboard calendar is a view of what you've set.
Where Mindie fits
Mindie is a contact in your WhatsApp. You text it the way you'd text a friend ("pay rent on the 5th at 10am"), or send a voice note or a screenshot, and it replies with the time it understood. If you leave out a time, it asks. At the right moment it messages you in the same chat, and you reply to move or cancel the reminder.
Once Google Calendar is connected, "dinner with Sam Friday at 8" becomes an event, and "what's on this week?" lists it. A screenshot of a booking confirmation can become an event when you ask. Outlook Calendar can be connected too. See Google Calendar on WhatsApp for the details.
Price
Mindie is free for 7 days with every feature. A card is saved at checkout, nothing is charged during the trial, and Mindie texts you two days before it ends. After that it's $9 a month or $90 a year, with a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first payment. Cancel any time by texting "cancel". See pricing or start your trial.
Questions
Does Mindie replace Google Calendar?
No. It connects to it. You add, list and delete events from WhatsApp, and they stay in Google Calendar.
Can Mindie edit an existing event?
Not yet. To change an event, delete it and add it again from the chat.
Will Mindie remind me before my events?
Ask it to. "Remind me an hour before the dentist" sets a reminder that arrives in WhatsApp.
Do my events appear in Google Calendar?
Yes. Once you connect it, events you send to Mindie go straight into your Google Calendar, and you can list or delete them from WhatsApp.
Should something be a reminder or an event?
Use an event for something at a set time and place. Use a reminder for a nudge in your chat, like calling the school. Mindie handles both.
