Drink water reminder on WhatsApp

Updated .

A drink water reminder on WhatsApp is a short message at a few points in the day that prompts you to refill your glass. With Mindie, send "every day at 11am remind me to drink a glass of water" and it arrives every day at 11, in the same chat as everything else.

Most people don't drink too little because they don't want to. They're busy, the bottle is empty and nobody refills it until they notice a headache at four in the afternoon.

How many reminders, and when

More isn't better. Hourly reminders become background noise within a week. Three or four, tied to natural breaks, tend to stick:

  • Mid-morning, after the first stretch of work.
  • After lunch, when you're back at your desk.
  • Mid-afternoon, the time energy dips most.

For weekdays only, say "every weekday" instead of "every day".

Why it's hard to keep up

  • Habits need a trigger. "Drink more water" has no moment attached to it.
  • The bottle runs out. An empty bottle on the desk ends the habit for the afternoon.
  • App reminders get swiped away. Notifications from a single-purpose app are easy to dismiss without acting.

Small things that help

  • Keep a full bottle in sight. The reminder works when the water is within reach.
  • Pair it with something you already do. Water before each coffee, or with every reminder you act on.
  • Don't overdo the count. Health guidance on how much to drink varies by person and climate; ask a doctor if you're unsure.

How Mindie handles it

Send the times you want, in words or as a voice note. Mindie confirms each one and messages you daily. Reply "move the 11am water reminder to 10:30" to adjust, or delete it by name when you no longer need it.

What Mindie doesn't do

  • It doesn't track intake or count glasses.
  • It isn't health advice.
  • It isn't an alarm. A Mindie reminder is a WhatsApp message, not an alarm. It follows your notification settings, so keep the Mindie chat unmuted.

Questions

How many water reminders should I set?

Three or four well-placed ones usually work better than one every hour, which quickly becomes noise. Mid-morning, after lunch and mid-afternoon are a good start.

Can I get reminders only on weekdays?

Yes. Send "every weekday at 11am remind me to drink a glass of water" and it runs Monday to Friday.

Does Mindie track how much I drink?

No. It reminds you; it doesn't log glasses or millilitres.

Can this be a daily habit?

Yes. If you'd prefer one check-in and a streak, text "drink a glass of water every day at 10am" as a habit.

Can I stop reminders at night?

Yes. Set only the times you want, like 10am, 1pm and 4pm. Mindie won't add others.

This page explains how to set the reminder with Mindie. It isn't financial, legal or medical advice; check dates and doses with the people who set them. Checked on 31 October 2026.
