Loan payment reminder on WhatsApp

Updated .

A loan payment reminder on WhatsApp is a monthly message a couple of days before your mortgage, car loan or student loan payment goes out. With Mindie, send "every month on the 3rd at 8pm remind me to check there's enough in my account for the mortgage" once, and it comes every month until you say stop.

Most missed loan payments aren't missed on purpose. Autopay tries to take the money from an account that's a little short that week, the payment bounces, and a returned payment fee and a late mark follow.

When to set it

  • Two days before the payment date, to check the balance.
  • On payday, to move the money into the account the payment comes from.
  • With an end date, so the reminders stop when the loan does.

Why loan payments slip

  • Autopay hides them. You forget the money still has to be there.
  • Different dates. Mortgage, car and student loans each come out on their own day.
  • Irregular income. Freelancers and contractors get paid at different times each month.

Habits that help

  • Put the amount in the reminder, so you know what to check for.
  • Keep the lender and account number in a note, for the day you need to call them.
  • Set a reminder before any rate change on a variable or fixed-term mortgage, a few months ahead.

How Mindie handles it

Send the reminder once, with an end date or a count if the loan has one. Mindie confirms the monthly pattern and messages you on time. Reply to move a reminder when a payment date changes.

What Mindie doesn't do

  • It doesn't pay loans or connect to your bank.
  • It isn't financial advice.

Questions

Can the reminder stop when the loan ends?

Yes. Add an end date, like "until June 2029", or a count, like "for the next 36 months", and Mindie stops after the last one.

My loan is on autopay. Do I still need this?

Autopay only works if the money is there. A reminder two days before lets you check the balance and avoid a returned payment fee.

Can Mindie pay the loan for me?

No. Mindie reminds you; the payment happens through your bank or lender.

How many days before the due date should it be?

Three or so gives you time to move money across. If you pay on payday, set it for that day.

Can I track several loans?

Yes. Give each loan its own reminder and name it in the message, like "car loan payment on the 12th".

This page explains how to set the reminder with Mindie. It isn't financial, legal or medical advice; check dates and doses with the people who set them. Checked on 31 October 2026.
