Medicine reminder on WhatsApp
Updated .
A medicine reminder on WhatsApp is a message that arrives each time a dose is due, in the chat you already check. With Mindie, send "every day at 8am remind me to take my thyroid tablet before breakfast" once, and it messages you every morning. For a short course, add an end and it stops on its own.
Missed and doubled doses are mostly a memory problem, not a discipline problem. Medicine taken at the same time each day becomes part of the routine; the trouble starts when the routine changes, on weekends, while travelling, or when a new prescription is added.

A short course that stops on its own
A weekly dose
Setting it up
- One daily reminder per time. "Every day at 9am and 9pm" gives you two reminders a day.
- Short courses with an end. "For the next 7 days" or "until 30 November" stops the reminders when the course is done.
- Weekly doses. "Every Sunday at 10am" for medicine taken once a week.
Pick times tied to something you already do: breakfast, lunch, brushing your teeth at night. A reminder that lands right before that moment is the easiest to act on.
Why doses get missed
- Routines break. A late night, a trip or a different weekend schedule moves everything.
- "Did I take it?" Without a record, you can't tell whether this morning's tablet happened.
- New medicines don't have a routine yet. The first two weeks of a new prescription are the easiest to forget.
Habits that help
- Keep the medicine where the reminder finds you. Next to the kettle for a morning dose, by the bed for a night one.
- Note what you take. Send Mindie a note with each medicine, dose and time, so you can answer the question at your next appointment.
- Plan refills. A reminder a week before the strip runs out avoids the empty-pack morning. See also doctor appointment reminders.
How Mindie handles it
- Send the reminder in words or as a voice note. Include the times and, for a course, the end.
- Mindie confirms what it understood, like "Every day at 9:00 am and 9:00 pm, for 7 days".
- It messages you each time, in your own timezone, so travelling across zones keeps the dose at the local time you set.
What Mindie doesn't do
- It isn't medical advice. Doses and timings come from your doctor or pharmacist.
- It doesn't remind anyone else. Each person sets their own reminders.
- It isn't an alarm. A Mindie reminder is a WhatsApp message, not an alarm. It follows your notification settings, so keep the Mindie chat unmuted.
Questions
Can I set a medicine reminder twice a day?
Yes. Mention both times, like "every day at 9am and 9pm", and Mindie sets a daily reminder for each.
Can the reminder stop when the course ends?
Yes. Add "for the next 7 days" or "until 30 November" and Mindie stops after the last dose.
Can Mindie remind my parent to take their medicine?
Not directly. Mindie only messages the person whose chat it is. Your parent can have their own Mindie account, or you can set a reminder for yourself to call them.
Will it ring like an alarm?
No. It arrives as a WhatsApp message and follows your notification settings. For medicine you can't miss, keep the chat unmuted or use a phone alarm as well.
Can I confirm that I've taken it?
Yes. Reply "done" to close the reminder. You can also turn on nag mode, which nudges you every 30 minutes, up to 3 times, until you reply.
Can I set different times for different medicines?
Yes. Give each medicine its own reminder and time, as your doctor or pharmacist instructed. Mindie doesn't give dosing advice.
This page explains how to set the reminder with Mindie. It isn't financial, legal or medical advice; check dates and doses with the people who set them. Checked on 31 October 2026.
