Rent collection reminder on WhatsApp
Updated .
A rent collection reminder on WhatsApp is a monthly message telling you, the landlord, to check that rent has arrived. Set it with Mindie in one line, for example "every month on the 2nd at 10am remind me to check rent has come in from all three flats", and it repeats every month.
Most rent arrives on time. The problem is the one payment that doesn't, and noticing it two weeks later. A quick check the day after rent is due means a polite message to the tenant instead of an awkward conversation about a month of arrears.

When to be reminded
- The day after rent is due. Bank transfers can take a day; checking the next morning avoids false alarms.
- At the end of any grace period. If your lease gives tenants a few days, set a second reminder for the last one.
- Once a year for the paperwork. A yearly reminder to pull together rent received for your tax return.
Why late rent goes unnoticed
- Payments land among everything else. Rent from three tenants arrives between salary, refunds and bills, and one missing line is easy to miss.
- Each tenant pays on a different date. A single reminder doesn't fit everyone, so people stop checking altogether.
- Chasing feels uncomfortable. It gets put off, and a few days late becomes a few weeks.
Habits that help
- One reminder per tenant when due dates differ, with the property in the text.
- Keep a paid list. Send Mindie "add Elm Street paid 2 March" each month and ask for the list when you do your accounts.
- Set the follow-up straight away. If a payment is missing, tell Mindie "remind me Friday at 11am to call Sarah if rent isn't in" so it doesn't slip again.
How Mindie handles it
- You send one message per property or tenant, typed or as a voice note.
- Mindie confirms the schedule, for example "Every month on the 2nd at 10:00 am".
- It messages you each month. Reply "done" once you've checked, or turn on nag mode so it keeps nudging until you do.

What Mindie doesn't do
- It doesn't collect rent or connect to your bank. It can't see whether a payment arrived.
- It never messages your tenants. Every reminder comes to your own WhatsApp chat.
- It isn't legal or financial advice. For late fees, notices or arrears, check your lease and local rules.
Questions
Can Mindie send rent reminders to my tenants?
No. Mindie only messages you, in your own WhatsApp chat. It reminds you to check payments and follow up, and you contact tenants yourself.
I have tenants who pay on different dates. Can I set one each?
Yes. Set a separate monthly reminder per tenant or property, each on its own date, so nothing is grouped by mistake.
Can I keep a record of who has paid?
You can keep a list, like "add Elm Street paid 2 March", and ask for it any time. It's a note you keep, not a ledger linked to your bank.
Can I get a reminder a few days after rent is due?
Yes. Set one on the due date to check payments and another a few days later to chase any that are late. You send the message to the tenant.
Can I set lease-end reminders too?
Yes. Give each property its own reminder, a couple of months before the lease ends.
This page explains how to set the reminder with Mindie. It isn't financial, legal or medical advice; check dates and doses with the people who set them. Checked on 31 October 2026.
